Direct report to the CEO.  Counsel to the CEO and extended leadership team to help shape the company and grow the business.  An authentic and positive leader of the HR team comprised of a centralized shared services group and HR business partners within the business units.
Overview of Role                   
This is a mid-cap company with the divisional and geographic complexities of a much larger entity and with a unique mission-driven, for-profit culture. The company has fascinating prospects for embracing growth opportunities while maintaining its strong core businesses.
The focus of the HR Leader’s role is to work with the CEO and leadership across the company in mapping out the organizational structures and the types of talent needed to grow the existing businesses and to capitalize on opportunities.  This has to be achieved while leading the HR team in providing quality services to the business and its employees including employee relations, recruiting and compensation and benefits.
Specific Responsibilities
A member of the CEO’s executive team, the HR Leader will partner with business and functional leaders to champion and build the team and organizational structures that will lead the company over the next decade.  In addition, the successful candidate will lead the HR organization in all its activities and be accountable for its plan and deliverables, as well as for developing the HR team and team members.

Key Accountabilities
  • Participate in the development of the corporation’s plans and programs; a strategic partner, particularly from the perspective of the people and organizational strength needed for success.
  • Develop authentic and positives relationships and credibility with key members of the management team and consult with management regarding key organizational issues related to the attainment of business plans.
  • Provide effective leadership as the company’s principal facilitator regarding human resources strategy and practices.
  • Create and support programs that build individual and organizational capability and contribute to a high-performance culture.
  • Translate the strategic and tactical business plans into HR strategic operational plans.
  • Manage relationship with and activities of the compensation committee of the board of directors.
  • Work to build a sustainable talent base across the company through effective plans and programs aimed at growing, sourcing, evaluating, recruiting, and assimilating talent.
  • Maintain strong, effective and respected human resources group that will support and foster growth and improvement throughout the organization.
  • Superior strategic and tactical communication skills and instincts.  An executive with a reputation for proactively using the human resource function to help accomplish the company’s mission and objectives.
  • A well-rounded executive with 10+ years of senior level experience who possesses strong leadership skills and track record of thought leadership.  Has held increasingly responsible positions with experience in both human resource specialist and generalist capacity.
  • Previous experience in multi subsidiary companies and diverse industries a particular interest.
  • An accomplished executive who has the experience and capacity to be a peer to others on the executive team (while working across all levels) and to contribute meaningfully to the achievement of the corporation’s business strategy.
  • Demonstrated capability in a corporation where change management and deliberate evolution of culture were important in preparing for success in an increasingly competitive and fast changing business climate.
  • Superior intellect – a combination of mental flexibility and creativity, conceptual ability and judgment. Someone who deals effectively with strategic issues as well as the detailed tactical activity involved in building a more successful organization.
